On May 12, the health intervention with the vaccine candidate Abdala will begin in the province of Matanzas. For its application, 50 premises distributed throughout the territory were enabled.
Between 100 and 150 people per venue will be vaccinated per day.In this first stage, workers in the Health and Tourism branches will be inoculated in a staggered manner.Between them they amount to more than 30,000 people.
Health workers include those who work in the optical service, pharmacy, blood banks, as well as those who offer logistical assurance.
The process will occur in stages and priority will be given to those in the red zone or those with the greatest risk of contagion with the coronavirus.
For people in the field of tourism, hotels in Varadero are prepared for their vaccination and airport and customs personnel and other related personnel will also be taken into account.
“There are the necessary resources. We must start with health personnel and with those who help the economy from tourism.Today in Matanzas there are more than 5,000 international travelers, "said Liván Izquierdo Alonso, First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba in Matanzas.
Three doses of Abdala will be administered per patient.“The first on day 0, the second on 14 and the last on 28. However, there is a range of 48 hours to be able to administer them when appropriate. That is, if for some reason you cannot get vaccinated on the 14th, you have until the 16th to do so, ”explained Miguel Antonio Rojas Morales, provincial deputy director of MINSAP in Matanzas.
According to information provided by Leonel Estupiñan Morales, director of the Medicines Marketing and Distribution Company (EMCOMED), the batches of the product are already in Yumurino territory. He also explains that the logistics necessary for its application are guaranteed.
“First you have to guarantee the storage temperature range, which is 2 to 8 degrees Celsius. For this reason, the conditions are created in all vaccine sites. All of these are certified by the Health system as well as the personnel who will work in those places ”, he adds.
The schedules between patients will be established in advance, because the patient must remain for at least sixty minutes under observation when receiving the injection.
Rojas Morales also commented that at first, pregnant women, postpartum women, those under 19 years of age or those who have a hypersensitive allergy will not be vaccinated, as these are aspects in which the drug can influence.
It is important to note that Abdala immunizes against all strains of the coronavirus present in the country. However, it only takes effect 21 days after your third dose is given.Meanwhile, the body is still sensitive to contracting covid-19 and it is necessary to protect yourself.
