
Having it in front of you is impressive. Not so much for his giant stature or for his arms of pure muscle; not because of his thunderous voice, his fiery gaze, or because he is the fighter most feared by rivals since in 2005 he won his first medal in a world championship. Mijáin López impresses because with 38 years and four Olympic titles that make him the most successful fighter of all time, he still retains that passion from the beginning.
Perhaps that is one of the keys that allowed him to reach Tokyo and enlarge his legend. As was the case in Rio, here there was no rival who managed to score at least one point. Not even the Turk Riza Kayaalp, the only one with the gift of beating him in recent years. Neither did the Georgian Iakobi Kajaia, a man who reached a historic final against the legend.
